In Pietermaritzburg, KZN a matrix pupil was shot in the head while waiting for his matric results at a garage in the early hours of Friday morning.
It was claimed that the leaner was at the garage with other people and the community members just after 1 in the morning waiting to purchase a paper.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele said that when the police arrived at the scene, they found the pupil lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head and his right arm.
He also noted that while people were buying newspapers a group of 5 men approved them.
One of the men tried to rob the shot pupil but the victim refused to hand over his cellphone leading the perpetrator to draw his gun out and shot him.
“A case of murder has been opened at Alexandra road SAPS for further investigation,” said Mbele
